The Journey
I started the side hustle by writing code to build a cloud platform, making it easy for creators to build and launch WebAR. I soon realized that there's a gap between the world of developers and business people to understand each other when it comes to technology. Over the course of my professional career, I have been bridging these two worlds for a long time.
So, a year later, when I started writing this newsletter, it quickly became a place for sharing my views, visions and predictions around WebAR – a way to help the budding entrepreuners who have recenetly focused to the world of 3D or for people who are looking for a way to explore the potential of WebAR, either to start a business or sharpening their profesional careers.
TSS mostly contains my favorite articles across different domains, best frameworks, good examples, gotchas and caveats, reminders, calculations, and correlations- all of which are based on my own experience, learnings, or research of best practices and working solutions. I put it all up here for my subscribers to reuse and hopefully upskill and grow.
With my journal, I also want to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements. I want to show what web augmented reality is or does “in action”.
My Learning
Building in public is always hard. You need to grow a thicker skin to survive, especially if you're a bootstrapped startup. For us, the journey was a mix of different experiences. Although mostly our users and subscribers love the work that we are doing, but from time to time negative and harsh comments flew towards us.
If you're planning to build something in public, here are my two cents:
– If you have a vision, find a way to do it. Don't wait for a right time – it'll never come.
– 20 yr. later, you'll feel bad for missed opportunities than your accomplishments.
– Start it now because nobody is going to fulfil your dream on your behalf.
– If you're not ashamed of your initial product version, you're too late.
– While building in public, grow a thicker skin as a founder.
– Filter the user feedbacks and improvise daily – you'll be better.
– Focus on the long game to beat 99% of your competitors.
– Consistency is the key – take baby steps everyday to grow.
– Make learning a fun process to fuel your growth.
What is Next
As the newsletter audience grows, I want to make sure I offer relevant content for my readers that is interesting and helpful. Given that I have a wide array of subscribers, it’s not an easy task. Moreover, it's now time to bring everything under an umbrella so that the readers, who are already vested in this journey can avail everything at their fingertip.
Below is a first look of my new website where readers can access all my ebooks, complete collection of all newsletters, WebAR course (something planned for later this year), personal 1:1 coaching with AR consultancy and many more.
The website will soon be launched and personally I'm super excited about it.
