TSS#51: The Ultimate Strategy to Hit $10k MRR

Read time: 4.3 minutes

Starting a business while selling WebAR as a service is cool. But most people hit celing quickly within a few months without growing much. A well planned strategy can help your business grow fast with more revenue. How can you achieve $10k/mo as MRR with WebAR business?

My goal today is to outline the steps to achieve $10k MRR, a milestone that every entrepreneur dreams of hitting while starting up..

——————————————————————————————

Breakdown your goal into multiple achievable plans

A senior software engineer may eat and sleep on a salary of $10k/mo but reaching that sort of MRR via a newly launched business needs some strategical thinking. The good news is that it is achievable. You don't need to be a super genius to do that. It needs some basic preparations first.

$10,000 per month means you only need 4 clients, each paying $2,500/month.

It's that simple math!

So let's break down more into what do you need to get one client per week?

Target Your Ideal Customers

In order to achieve maximum success with minimum effort, target the correct niche of customers. See, I have done this mistake before – thinking everyone as a potential customer. But when you talk to everybody, you talk to nobody.

Break down your niche target domain. The more specific it is, the better it is. For example, Your ideal customers live in Creativity World –> Advertising –> Product Launch advertising. Focus on the brands who spend more on product advertsing because that is your sweet spot to hit, instead of finding creative advertisers (generic category) as your customers.

Setup Outbound Sales

Your sales outbound channels are your guardians to grow. In 2021, the average cold outreach conversion rate was close to 15%. Even if taking a lower side, reaching out 50 people a week could result in conversion of one client per week.

Not so big deal – huh?

But remember few things which are important:

– Get a professional mail domain (DNS provider), a mailbox (Google Wokspace), a lead discoverer and mail sender (Apollo.io), a CRM (Odoo) – all can be set with a combined budget of below $100/month

– If you do not have leads upfront, buy them. You may need to spend some time filtering them to remove the bad ones – but that's worth it. Especially during the beginning phase.

Setup Inbound Sales

Create an online presence to build your repuation. It may take some time but it's worth it. Choose your preferred social media platform. It could be TikTok or Instagram too. I prefer LinkedIn and Twitter to build your community. I have build a list of 8.6k+ follower list in Linkedin solely talking about WebAR everyday.

Your reputation will work as a lead magnet and people will come to you eventually to seek advice. Then you can offer your service to them.

Build a Package of $2500

Breakdown your service into several components – each one with expected time and cost associated. This will serve two purposes:

– This will make your life easier. With each client, you exactly know what to do.
– Customers will trust you more because they get what they are paying for.

For example, a $2,500 project can be broken down like this:

– Convert a creative idea into WebAR frame (consultancy) – $1200

– Build a 3D model (perhaps animated too) – $800

– UX design for AR landing page, integration etc. – $350
– Hosting WebAR campaign cost – $150

Accept clients that fall within this framework of work. This is a one person doable plan to execute fast for each of your clients.

Outsource Work Volume

I cannot stress less on this topic. This is your area to rise and shine and scale your business fast. Outsource the repeatitive work or tasks which may end up cost you more than your expertise.

For example, you can outsource the 3D modelling and the UX design part respectively to save time. Now your only work per week to spend between 5-10 hours consultancy hours with the client. You can start accepting more work in a single week – isn't it?

Use freelancers to offload your work. Thus you can save some money there too.

Consistency is the Key

Focus on the long term game because everyone is looking for the quick success (and that's why most people fail). Building a business using WebAR as a service is exciting and promising. However, at the same time, even with high adoption rate, it is relatively a new technology. With right frame in hand, you can scale up and achieve a great success in the business.
